Why now? Venus only makes this descent every 19 months. Venus won’t make her descent in Scorpio again until 2181. This is a rare window to go down into the dreaming with her and see what she brings back for you.
Why the Underworld? The Upperworld is obsessed with love and light. This unique Venusian descent in Scorpio is a rare chance to explore love and dark. It can be confronting, but it is also an infinitely rich, voluptuous and deep encounter with the mystery.
Why Venus? Venus’s descent is a powerful time for intentional, devotional dreaming. A chance to delve into your own shadows around love, sex, value, worth, pleasure and partnerships.

Venus spends 40 days in retrograde. This year, it’s from 3 October (at 8 degrees in Scorpio) to 14 November (22 degrees in Libra). This retrograde is when Venus makes her final swoop on the image of the rose that she’s been painting across the sky.
During this final swoop, Venus disappears. Between 19 October and 1 November, she vanishes from the sky. This is when she heads to the Underworld. Whilst down there, she dances alongside the Sun at 0 degrees of Scorpio, in an inferior conjunction (24 October). Then she heads back to her home sign of Libra, where her palace will be illuminated by the Full Moon in Taurus - the other sign that Venus rules.
Venus returns home. And then, 1 November, she re-appears in the sky. But she will be changed. No longer the Evening Star, she becomes the Morning Star - a beacon for us all of the beauty, power and radiance that follows the long dark.
